Our Homemade Fossils

This week, we made homemade fossils. Here is how they turned out. It was the funnest hands on manipulatives and we made two sets. Take a look. We used 1 cup of flour to every cup of salt of salt. Add water as you like to make a fluffy texture. Can add flour to balance it out. If its to sticky add flour. If its to dry add water a little bit at a time and hand mix until your liked texture is reached. Let set in bowl for 15 minutes. Then, started pinching off a little roll and form a ball. We took playdough toys and imprinted them. Buttons were fun to make owl faces. Anything in your environment can be used to be creative. Then, we let them sit in the fridge for 2 hours to give it an old look and it browns a little. Then we baked them for 3 hours on 350 degrees. Take out and let cool. Paint with acrylic paint. I found mine at Walmart in the craft section. Then let dry. Take a light coat of mod podge to seal. These came out really hard and nice with texture. Leave me a comment and I will keep sharing our CREATIVE SIDE.
